When I say we need to move our bodies more, I’m not talking about the dreaded “E” word. I mean just movement.
Exercise is great but if it’s something that doesn’t bring you joy, do something else.

There are so many benefits to physical activity / movement that not moving our bodies makes no sense to me.
Some benefits include:
- Stress relief– moving our bodies triggers the release of endorphins which helps bring down our stress levels.
- ADHD & movement– moving your body can help reduce symptoms associated with ADHD. Physical activity boosts levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin in the brain which helps with focus and attention. These hormones can work in a similar way as ADHD medications like Ritalin and Adderall.
- Relaxation– Physical activity can help our muscles relax. When we’re sitting all day, our muscles tend to tense up and become stiff. Moving our body gets the blood circulating again and can help muscles relax and loosen up.
Try to work in some movement today. If you already have a regular workout routine, try something new. I love movement meditation like qigong or tai chi.
What’s your favorite way to move your body?
