Self-care Challenge- Day 7: Soften

What does it mean to soften?

A lot of people I know are in a stage of life where they’re climbing a ladder. Maybe they’re leveling up their career, finishing school, or aiming to move to a better neighborhood. Whatever their goal, it feels like an upward trajectory.

It’s also a lot of grinding. Hitting the pavement. Getting your hands dirty. Burning the midnight oil. All of these sound physically hard and rough.

The problem with going hard all the time is that you’re more prone to breaking. Even stone breaks if you hit it hard enough for long enough. And we’re made of softer things than stone.

When I think of softening, I think of finding ease. Going with the flow. A gentle touch. Taking a moment to simply breathe.

Today, find a moment where you can let go and embrace softness. Where can you be a little gentler with yourself? What can you do to take some of the weight off your shoulders? Is there something you need to release that’s causing resistance?

Softening doesn’t mean giving up. It means making space for what serves you better.

Let me know how you found softness today.
