Internship Day 3: Tiny But Mighty

Internship Day 3: Tiny But Mighty

Today, I was at a different facility. Closer to home and smaller but I learned a lot.

Took a HIIT class in the morning and helped one of the participants get into the right starting position. It was so inspiring watching everyone work hard and also have fun. The instructor was great. He definitely made the “suffering” seem temporary with lasting benefits. He made them laugh! It was great.

Yoga next. This was yoga, no pilates like I’ve been taking this past week. The teacher smiled the whole time. He was so calming and you could really tell he found joy in his practice.

We took a MELT class next. If you’re unfamiliar with the MELT method, it’s similar to self-massage but a lot of focus is on myofascial release and “hydrating” the muscles. I really enjoyed this class. I use a lacrosse ball to massage the soles of my feet (because I suffer from plantar fasciitis) and this was similar. I would love to learn more and get certified in it but the certification is about $2000.

Lastly, we toured the weight room.

I’d been going to a different gym in this park and rec district even though this one is close to my home because I didn’t think this weight room was going to have everything I was looking for. I was WRONG. It’s tiny but mighty. I’m going to be making this my gym going forward.

This week, I’m at two different facilities and I’m working on my big project as well. Exciting times.
